Piracy in Maldives

I just found out that someone was selling bootleg video CD's of the Dhivehi film 'Yoosuf' and has been caught. The poor guy is going to be sentenced for piracy as far as I heard. Is there a copyright law in the Maldives? I'm sure this superhit movie has songs with music from some Indian movie. Come on! There are so many shops in Male' selling pirated DVD's, VCD's and audio CD's. Some of the shops have the latest Hollywood releases the day after they have been released in cinemas across the world. Why isn't the government authorities doing anything to stop that kind of piracy? Just because pirated copy of a dhivehi movie was sold in the market everyone is on TV talking about piracy!!!! Puhleeeese! Hollywood and Bollywood spend millions of dollars to make a movie and the pirated copies are sold for Rf 30 each or sometimes more at shops here in Male'. You guys should go and check a shop called 'OdioMart' in Majeedi Magu! I bought a DVD of 'Die Hard 4' just to check out something a friend of mine told me about. Before the movie starts there is a small ad of OdioMart and says 'This movie is brought to you by OdioMart". WTF????

Is piracy laws in the Maldives just for some people? The whole Maldivian Film Industry is based on copied movies. Come on people! Try to be original! Not copy the whole movie shot by shot! Just my thoughts.......
